Human Trafficking
*Origin: Proposed by U.S. Representative and being introduced Law Maker.
* Mechanism: If a state convicts someone of wage theft, fraud, and other related offenses that person had a prior conviction for a similar crime.
* Purpose: To incentivize states to keep dangerous offenders incarcerated and to cover the costs for states dealing with repeat offenders.
*Funding: Federal law enforcement assistance funds are used to reimburse states for apprehension, prosecution, and incarceration expenses.
*Enactment: While proposed in various forms, this provision can become part of larger legislation, including the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000
